WHAT AGES ARE THE TEAMS?

We compete in the Florida Lacrosse Association which has the following age grouped teams:

  • 1st and 2nd grade - Bantam

  • 3rd and 4th grade - Lighting

  • 5th and 6th grade - Juniors

  • 7th and 8th grade - Seniors

These teams are instructional/recreational teams and there are no try-outs. There are Fall and Spring seasons.  Players can participate in one or both seasons.

Each season we aim to have a team for each age division. To confirm what age divisions we have available for the upcoming season, please check the Registration page.

WHAT IF MY SON IS NEW TO LACROSSE?

Learning the game at an earlier age is always a benefit.  Lacrosse is a sport that many athletic kids can pick up in a short time.

If your son has played baseball, soccer, basketball, football or another sport, there are many parallels.

Each age group has an adequate emphasis on individual and teams skills while having fun.

The youth season lasts approximately 8 weeks, with practices starting about 3 weeks before the first game.

The Fall season runs September-November, and Spring from March-May.

  • Bantam and Lighting teams play on Sunday afternoons.

  • Juniors and Seniors teams play on Saturdays.

Practices are held twice a week at Ward Park's Showalter East fields. (The field behind Showalter Stadium's visitor bleachers.)   Practices are in the evenings for approximately 90 minutes.

If you ever need to miss a practice we just ask that you communicate with your coach.

A breakdown of the costs per player can be found on our registration page.

WILL MY SON BE INSURED?

All members of the Winter Park Lacrosse Club MUST be members of US Lacrosse .  With all players belonging to US Lacrosse, we are covered under their insurance policy.

The US Lacrosse membership is also required by any other lacrosse travel team. So, if you son plays for a regional or national travel team, you will be required to already have this membership.
